On 4th October 2010, Commodore Abraham T. Lucose who was the Comptroller of Rashtrapathi Bhavan visited K. R. Narayanan Study Centre. He has done a detailed discussion with Dr. Jose V.S. and Dr. Mercy Philip about the functioning of the centre. He gave some suggestions to improve the performance of the centre. He congratulated the College for the initiative to start a centre like this.
After visiting the centre, he delivered a speech on ‘the life of K.R. Narayanan in Rashtrapathi bhavan’. The venue was Chazhikkatt hall. Since, he had worked as the Comptroller of Rashtrapathi Bhavan at the time of K.R.N., he could describe the nature and life style of KRN as the president. According to Mr. Abraham T. Lucose, Dr. Narayanan was the most humble president India had ever seen. His contribution to India’s foreign policy is remarkable. Many politicians in the central government stated unanimously that KRN was the first one who used the real powers of President. He has been admired for his political speeches, the courage he'd shown in not being a conventional President. However, the stories of his childhood humiliation, deprivation, and poverty exceeded all expectations. They were deeply moving, inspiring. Mr. Lucose also pointed out that Dr. Narayanan’s Presidentship proved the strength of India’s democracy as well as secularism. Dr. Jose V.S. welcomed the gathering. Dr. Francis Cyriac E., Principal, presided over the function. Dr. Mercy Philip proposed vote of thanks.
